Cloud Nothings - Attack on Memory

Rating: 2.5/5 It's OK, or is it?

Year: 2012
Genre: Pop/Rock
Style: Alt. Rock/Indie Rock/Lo-Fi
SF Stand out Track: Fall In
Album's Spotify URL: Cloud Nothings – Attack On Memory
Pants Rating: 50% (% of album tracks that are simply making up the numbers)

Review/Opinion

The first track is not too lively, or very good. However, the album does improve from that point on, but not by much.
Our Plans is not a bad track.
I'll probably delete the album from my Spotify folders.

Speech Debelle - Freedom of Speech

Rating: (2.5/5) Don't Like it - Grower? Unlikely!

Year: 2012
Genre: Rap
Style: British Rap
SF Stand out Track: Elephant in the Living Room
Album's Spotify URL: Speech Debelle – Freedom Of Speech
Pants Rating: 58% (% of album tracks that are simply making up the numbers)

Review/Opinion

Speech Debelle was awarded the Mercury prize in 2009 for her first album "Speech Therapy", an album that I listened to many times, and still dig out now and again, as it is refreshingly unique, the unique part is she is a British Rapper who can rap, and has a vocabulary.

I am very disappointed in this album, mainly because I had such high expectations for it. There is no spark, no big tracks, a few tracks where the chorus is half decent, but pretty much a bit of rapping over some noise.

The Roots - Undun

Rating: 3/5 It's OK - I'll listen again.

Year: 2011
Genre: Rap
Style: Alternative Rap
SF Stand out Track: One Time
Album's Spotify URL: The Roots – Undun
Pants Rating: 46% (% of album tracks that are simply making up the numbers)

Review/Opinion

I was a late comer to the Roots, I mean really late, as in "How I Got Over", I really liked the majority of that album to begin with, but before long, a few of the songs began to grate on me, so far with "Undun" this has not been the case.

Undun starts off with a ridiculous Intro, so I have excluded this from the pants rating. Moving on from that it is all pretty positive, it helps that they can all Rap, which is not always the case in a group/clan.

Some good tracks, and some decent ones, One Time is a good track, the chorus of Lighthouse runs it very close for my track of the album, Tip the scale another that stood out.. There is not a bad track, just seems to blend together well, never going to blow you away though. The album fizzles out with 4 odd instrumentals, take those out the pants rating would actually only be 22%.
