Tom Vek – Leisure Seizure
I don't know where Tom Vek has been since his last album "We have Sound" in 2005, quite frankly, I don't care, all that matters is he is back.
Leisure Seizure is still very much the unique sound of Tom Vek, if you were aware of his past material , there is absolutely no chance you would mistake this for any other artist. This record is not as heavy as We have Sound, and I am still not entirely sure if i like that or not.
I have now listened to the album a few times, 'Aroused' instantly struck a chord with me (apologies), it was only after fifth or sixth time of listening to this particular track that I even took notice of the lyrics, just a very good beat, which is something you should expect from him.
Upon each listen of the record, I noticed the decency of another track, 'Hold Your Hand' and 'A.P.O.L.O.G.Y' are catchy, and well put together, the remaining tracks make up the rest of the album nicely, as long as listened to from start to finish, I found the listening experience not as enjoyable when on shuffle (maybe that is just a form of OCD)
This could be a grower for those unfamiliar with Vek's work, Leisure Seizure is a very different sound to anything else currently polluting the airwaves, and well worth a listen, you may hate it, but at least you tried something a bit different.
If you love Tom Vek, you'll love this, if you like Tom Vek, you will like this, if you... you get the picture.
My Single of the Album: Aroused
